Campus vivant'e, an independently functioning school in Morocco

Campus vivante is located in the High Atlas, Morocco. In kindergarten, school, and college, there are 80 children and young people, mostly Berbers from all social classes, that receive a comprehensive and future-oriented education in their isolated region.
Since 2015, hearing-impaired children have been integrated into daily school life. At campus vivant'e, however, inclusion means more than the integration of deaf children. We are convinced that each individual, with their strengths and weaknesses, has their place in the community and can develop their potential.
The site is managed jointly with the children according to the principles of permaculture. This creates an independently functioning ecosystem on the school site, which serves as a place of diverse learning close to nature. In a region where self-sufficiency is an essential part of life, active help for self-help is thus provided.
With over 20 local employees, the campus is the region's largest private employer. Employees often support their entire extended family with their salary. At the living campus, they receive continuous training in various fields such as pedagogy, non-violent communication or sustainable agriculture. Self-care and personal responsibility are actively encouraged so that each member of the team can contribute to develop their potential in an optimal way for the benefit of the community.
Thanks to the constant involvement of the population of the valley, the campus is strongly rooted in the regional community. The educational institution with its infrastructure offers a platform for activities with and on the initiative of the population. The campus encourages local women's cooperatives, organizes events and contributes to the exchange of social projects and community activities. of different nature.
The ongoing construction of the living academy, where young people and adults will have the opportunity to follow vocational training or continuing education or to prepare for the baccalaureate in collaboration with the local high school, will make it possible to complete the education cycle. In this way, the living campus contributes significantly to the creation of real and sustainable future prospects in the valley.
